barrettGeorge Barrett is the President and Editor of Hardwood Publishing Company Inc. and has over 50 years experience in the forest products industry. George began his professional lumber career in 1958 with the Boise Cascade Corporation. George next worked 13 years for the Weyerhaeuser Corporation in a number of marketing and manufacturing jobs, from salesman in Atlanta, Georgia, to product development manager for the softwood lumber division. In 1972, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he managed a millwork company, established a moulding manufacturing company, sold lumber, and was a consultant on the marketing and manufacturing of wood products.
 
In 1985, George founded the Hardwood Publishing Company, Inc. to produce a newsletter dedicated to the hardwood lumber industry. This publication, the Weekly Hardwood Review, and its monthly sister publication, the Hardwood Review Global, are read in over 70 countries. In 2005, George introduced The Hardwood Leader, the first forecasting periodical for industry executives. In 2006, Hardwood Publishing introduced the Hardwood Lumber Buyer–North America and Hardwood Lumber Buyer–Asia, which are now distributed freely to 13,000 buyers of hardwood lumber in North America and China.
