Great Canadian Logging Expo on Grouse Mountain
Saturday, October 16 •12 – 5 pm
Buses will transport convention guests to the famous Grouse Mountain Skyride for a one-mile journey like no other. High above towering Douglas firs, breathtaking views of the city of Vancouver, sparkling Pacific Ocean, Gulf Islands, and snowy peaks unfold as you journey up the mountainside. North America's largest aerial tramway is your gateway to the majestic nature of the Peak of Vancouver, and an experience in itself.
Upon exiting the gondola, guests will head toward the logging grounds stopping to admire the stunning cedar carvings along the way. Lunch will be served on Grouse Mountain in the lodge with views that range from mountain to the entire city.
After lunch the teams are set, red versus green, and the loggers are introduced. The master MC gets them going as these master lumberjacks show off their skills.
The show includes traditional competitions such as the underhand chop, chainsaw and ‘hot’ saw races, double buck (cross-cut), hard hit (standing) chop, axe throw and the springboard chop where lumberjacks first climb to the top of the pole. A log rolling in the pond always leaves someone wet… As you can see, this is the real deal, no acting here, the competition is serious and oh so much fun!
Following the show, go and see if the nearby bears are still awake. This excursion includes lunch on Grouse Mountain in the lodge with views that range from mountain to the entire city.
Remember to Prepare for the Elements – Bring warm, waterproof clothing; sweaters, hoodies, light jackets, heavier jacket; closed-toe shoes or boots and don’t forget an umbrella.
Pre-registration is required for this event. Cost per person is $25 US and is only open to attendees paying full convention registration. Space is limited to 100 people.
